I was introduced to model rail as a young fella of around 10 years old. I dabbled in it until teenage interests took over. I returned to the hobby in 2007 for something to do with my young son. Subsequent to this friends at work (Craig Mackie and PK) suggested I come along to an RMCQ meeting as they were members. In 2008 I joined RMCQ.
I am currently building a ‘OO’ layout based in Britain. I call it Illavearf. A strange name yes but the layout is split in half with a country scene on one side and an industrial scene on the other. A chance viewing of an old Love Thy Neighbour episode produced the name when 'Jacko' says his famous "I'll 'ave 'alf" order. This translates to "I'll have half a pint of beer" in English!! Say it fast enough and you get Illavearf.
Craig Mackie has sparked my interest in NSWGR and I am currently tinkering with NSWGR 44 and 422 Class ‘HO’ Lima engines as a starting point for a NSWGR layout in the future. I have some old rollingstock of the NSWGR that I can use.
I am also interested in the Australian private operators era and I am particularly keen on modelling some CFCLA kit (I do like the livery!)
That's about it.
