Track pickup success

I installed some additional track pickups by using a stripped twisters for the steel wire, a small brass strip and the decoder pickup wire soldered together. I made four of these, two black and two red. I then hot glued them to the front bogie last night. Tonight I tested them on the track. Seems to have done the trick. Now for the article!

Current project - Lima NSWGR Class 44 upgrade

I am currently upgrading a Lima NSWGR Class 44 that I bought from Craig Mackie (Cassino) earlier this year. At the same time I am compiling an article hopefully for publication in either AMRM or MRA. At the minimum it will appear in RMCQ's Semaphore newsletter! So far the Soundtraxx decoder has been wired in, new LEDs at both ends wired in with corrective circuitry, and additional weights placed in the chassis. At the moment I am mucking around with adding extra pickups on the front bogie for both rails. Stay tuned for the end result.

Hornby Magazine published article

In case anyone is interested, Hornby Magazine published an article I wrote regarding installing a Loksound micro DCC sound decoder into a Bachmann GWR Small Prairie. The article appeared in the June 2009 edition.

The start of something new

Here is my very first blog post! Please take pity on a beginner. I will attempt to update this as regularly as possible but unlike my friend Craig Mackie I will not put a rod to my back and commit to a weekly update just yet!
